Browser-based SMS

I stumbled across an interesting web-based service today. Joopz. It is the first web service to offer two-way SMS text messaging from your browser. This Ruby-on-Rails application, from boston-based Mobile Sphere, is a great new service. It may prove to be compelling enough to justify the $2.95/month ($19.95/year) upgrade fee for Premium membership that removes the 10 messages per month inbound SMS cap. The site is still being developed with things like contact management still to be delivered. An API would also be a welcome addition. I am looking forward to someone integrating Joopz in to Adium. It seems like a natural fit.
