#health2stat Paul Schindler – rare genomics institute

Accelerating Cures of Tomorrow

http://2.healthca.mp/1Pt3h1B

The rare genomics institute was founded in 2011 with a mission to use genomics to help kids with rare diseases.

Research projects are designed around the patient with a rare disease.

Check out the patient advocate team at rareshare.org.

The genetic science team is developing the rare disease commons.

Crowd funding helps patients to gain the funding to support genomic sequencing. 64% exceed their goals and typically donate the extra funds to help others do the same.

Approaching crowd funding:

  • have a game plan
  • have a key message
  • have a team to promote
  • interact with your community
