Speed Dating Q&A at Web2Open

The Speed Dating Q&A at Web2Open was one of the highlights of the un-conference track. The opportunity to sit down and quiz Tim O'Reilly, Cal Henderson, Dennis Crowley, Jen Pahlka and Brady Forrest.

Lots of cool questions but I wonder what the other tables talked about. Tim gave some insights in to how O'Reilly media got started.

Jen talked about how to put together a good proposal for a conference talk. Very appropriate since the speaker request for Web 2.0 Expo San Francisco 2009 went out today.

Carl Henderson talked about the challenges of finding good talent now that he has recruited all his friends that are available.

Brady is fascinated by the evolution of location based information. The release of municipal geo information is going to trigger a raft of new developments and opportunities.

Dennis talked about the challenges of being acquired by Google and the opportunities in creating social applications that are location aware. This also covered how geo tagging in phones presents interesting challenges. How closely monitored do we really want to be? What are the challenges that we face with that?

This event drew one of the biggest crowds with every seat taken. Hopefully we will see this session again at future events.

  1. I don't know why Google doesn't embrace geo meta tags more.
