An exciting few weeks coming up including HealthCa.mp/Boston – #HCBOS, #TheSummit, #BlueButton

Friends, It is time for an update… The next few weeks are set to be frenetically busy for me.

Thanks to David Harlow and Janice McCallum for organizing HealthCa.mp/Boston.

The Summit

On November 4-6th, I will be with Medyear at The Web Summit in Dublin, Ireland. This is Europe’s premier Technology Conference and Medyear was selected as one of an elite group of startups to take part in the event.

BlueButton Plus

Medyear has made a big commitment to BlueButton Plus and Direct messaging. It is at the core of the Medyear.com platform. Every member get’s a direct email address for secure messaging of health care information. As many of you know and who have seen the Walking Gallery Jacket painted by Regina Holliday, I have been a long time proponent of BlueButton. It is a critical component in enabling consumer/patient engagement in their health by enabling the movement of health information under the patient’s control.

In the next few weeks, if everything pans out, I will be taking up a position as External Entrepreneur at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The challenge I have been asked to address is to implement BlueButton Plus on Medicare.gov. This is a big challenge. I hope I can count on my friends and fellow instigators in the patient engagement community to help me meet this challenge. Medicare and Medicaid is such a big part of the health industry this was a call to service that I am compelled to take on. It means taking a sabbatical from Medyear but it is an opportunity to deliver health information freedom to patients and consumers everywhere by making BlueButton Plus and Direct messaging pervasive in Healthcare. If you use twitter follow me for updates (@ekivemark) and tweet back to me with:
“@ekivemark Count me in to make #BlueButton Plus happen”

By pulling together as a community we can make BlueButton Plus a powerful tool for us as consumers and patients.
