Social Graph = Social Network

As I have said in previous occasions I have a lot of respect for the views of Stowe Boyd. He is one of the people that is not giving in (just yet) and going with the trend towards the use of the term Social Graph. I am with Stowe on this. If Social Graph is just being used as a replacement for the well worn and well understood term - Social Network then it is not really adding value.
In thinking about the use of the two terms I realized that there is a difference. The term Social Network is typically used to describe a virtual group of individuals that are connected by virtual, common threads.
On the other hand, the Social Graph should be more about the connections between individuals and groups. But in this context isn't the term Social Map a better descriptor?
