Michael Blum – Associate Vice Chancellor for Informatics and Professor of Medicine in Cardiology

Themes to embrace: How can we partner with academics to move breakthroughs in to the care setting.

In the early stages of utilizing clinical data.
How do we combine with ‘omics data and convert to information and wisdom.

A lot of the data is not valid. Devices are not validated. This creates nervousness.

Fixing this:

  1. Engage experts in privacy and security. Patients have to feel comfortable.
  2. Getting data to individual will not get you there. You need to engage institutions in health care.
