Delivery System Reform
An unsung achievement of the ACA. (Affordable Care Act).
Focus on quality, Unlocking data. We have the opportunity to make health care better for everyone.
When we started there were 10 datasets available. Now there are 2100+. on Healthdata.gov
We have tripled the adoption of Digital health records.
We still have problems with data moving between systems.
Not just technical barriers. Business issues may prevent sharing.
Wha we need to do:
– Common standards
– Change culture around access to information. People have a right to their information. No tolerance for data blocking!
– Rules and regulations should support data moving securely and easily across the healthcare system.
The principles are catching on.
EHR vendors have committed to supporting these principles.
We pay for services not health. We don’t pay for prevention even if we know it works. This has to and is changing.
The CMS Innovation Center is releasing new programs to support better care.
Moving to bundled payments for surgery and recovery.
We also need to give people the tools they need to take care of themselves.
We have to change the way we think about care.
People dislike working out their bills for care. You need a PhD to understand their bills.
Today announcing the “Bill you canunderstand” challenge. in conjunction with AARP and Mad*POW design agency.
Call to innovators: – Keep innovating!
